IEE is initiated when parents request an evaluation that is independent of the school district’s assessment. Often generated when there is a disagreement with the School’s evaluation and the parents are seeking a second opinion.Â
Included in the IEE: Comprehensive Developmental History, Observations (Classroom and Assessment setting), Interview with Parent, Interview with Teacher, Cognitive Assessment, Academic Assessment, Processing Assessments, Social Emotional Behavioral Assessment, Summary Findings, Discussion regarding Eligibility for Special Education, DSM V Diagnosis and implications (if appropriate).

Psychoeducational Evaluation is initiated by the school or parents to determine a student’s potential eligibility for special education services or to help develop and Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) or an Individualized Education Program (IEP). This assessment can also be utilized to determine potential DSM V Diagnosis and to pursue services from outside agencies, such as Regional Center services.Â
